FED vs. ED In Stratiform Area of MCS/MCV

[23:30 UTC] A well defined MCS/MCV barreling across the mid-Atlantic region has developed a fairly extensive stratiform region. Decided to take a look at GLM data within this stratiform area in comparison to the more convective activity further south/west.

It was noted that both the 5-min/1-min event density and flash extent density were substantially lower in the stratiform regions compared to the convective areas. In particular, the flash extent density was much lower, most likely owing to the "longer" lightning but less lightning overall.
