Watching the 5-minute GLM Flash Extent Density product, I've noticed that the individual grid values sometimes exceed 100 flashes per 5 minutes in a few of the most vigorous T-storms. The default data range here is 0 to 50, but this might need to be adjusted depending on the amount of lightning activity on a given day. I think the 0 to 50 range was probably designed for the 1-minute FED. A.Cope
