Getting a better handle of GLM products

Trying to dive more deeply into the GLM data this afternoon. A nice supercell developed over western Wisconsin and traveled over Madison (long loop, sorry). Possible trend I noticed is that in building updrafts you can see a small lightning flash area (yellow to light green areas in bottom left window) followed by an uptick in total lightning energy and lightning event density in new and/or intensifying updraft. Could this be used (especially small flash areas) to better determine storm motion and intensification over regular ground lightning detection networks. Starting to think the GLM will be very beneficial to areas out in poor radar coverage out west once a forecaster can get a good hold of what is being displayed.
