Gidded NUCAPS - spotty coverage

500MB temperature from gridded new caps. Spotty nature due to lack of good data. Some areas of green dots have no gridded data.

Does the gridded data have to be contoured?  What about just an array of color coated numbers or something. The contoured analysis gets kind of goofy looking at times.

  1. Benjamin, the gridded NUCAPS (not "new caps") is a gridded layer of data at different pressure layers. It should not display as contours but rather as an image layer with different colors. Michael Bowlan can point you to AWIPS procedures that will display it correctly. Thanks for your feedback. Nadia

  2. Thanks for your feedback. It will appear more clearly if you display the field as and image rather than a contour - Emily Berndt NASA SPoRT
