Today was a very slow day for my group. We bounced around to three CWA's. Our first stop was Columbia, South Carolina. The first imagery I looked at today was the LAP 4-panel and it was quite helpful to see the environment in which the thunderstorms would be developing today.
The GFS was underdoing the PW, LI, and CAPE. However, with the satellite data, those three figures matched to what I think was going to happen during the afternoon with regard to the thunderstorm development in the CWA.
I thought the biggest thunderstorm activity would occur in the southern CWA of Columbia and in fact in did, which is what I thought when looking at the 4-panel data at the beginning of my shift.
