2225z super rapid scan with overshooting top (OT) performed fairly well for a long lived cluster of severe storms across southern Oklahoma. However, it missed one persistent OT (circled).
it would be very helpful in these situations to include the corresponding IR image. This would help us to toggle back and forth between visible and IR to determine whether or not the missed OT feature could be detected. If the OT exhibits a very weak signal due to 16x coarser resolution, it cannot be realistically detected. Trying to detect these potentially weak OTs would cause the algorithm to produce a far higher rate of false detections which I assume would be undesirable for operations
