The GOES-R CI product caught secondary convective initiation to the northeast of Indianapolis, with probabilities as high as 85 % appearing approximately 10 minutes before the first 35 dBZ echoes appearing at -10 C. The initial convection was developing while the forecasters were listening to the convective forecast from the EFP. Post analysis by the forecasters indeed showed that the GOES-R CI product picked up on the initial development of convection across Indiana and further west into Illinois.
